I’m a huge cat lover and I’ve got three cats at home and I would definitely get more if my wife would let me.
If you’re a cat owner like myself then you probably know that it’s always an issue trying to find the best cat litter to use in your home that doesn’t smell, is absorbent, and is easy to work with along with reasonably priced.
I always trying to make sure that my cat’s litter box is recently filled with fresh litter and I hate when I come home after I’m gone for the entire day or if my wife forgets to change it and it’s really stinky.
Sometimes I can let my cats outside, especially during the warmer months when I know they won’t run away and they just want to relax on the back deck, but during the winter I trying to make it as cozy for them indoors as possible.
So I recently went online and started a search to see what options were available for cat litter that I could just order online and have delivered on a regular basis rather than heading to PetSmart every few days to restock.
In this post I want to share my findings of what I think make a suitable choice to use for cat litter in your home as well as go over a few of my recommendations.
All the different options I chose, the ones that I recommend are litters that I think are well suited for most cats and that help to neutralize the odor while making sure that the cat pee and poop doesn’t stink up the joint.
Let’s take a look at some of my different recommendations when it comes to the best kitty litter and cat litter to use in your home.
The Best Cat Litter
Precious Cat Ultra Premium Clumping Cat Litter
It’s the 40 pound bag of the Precious Cat Ultra Premium Clumping Cat Litter that I have been to the settle down when I was looking for the best of the best when it came to cat litter.
This one doesn’t contain any perfumes, deodorant, and it’s also hypoallergenic.
The 40 pound bag is great for someone like me that has more than one cat and it also lasts a while if you’re just using it for one cat for refilling their litter box on a regular basis.
One of the features that I like about it is that it boasts an all natural clumping litter so that whenever I have to go scoop anything out it’s already all clumped together and easier to clean and the consistency of this litter helps to prevent moisture from making its way all the way to the bottom of the box.
Another interesting feature is that it’s 99.9% dust free and to make it less messy it uses non tracking, heavy granules that also make it easier for cleaning up.
I really like the fact that there isn’t any artificial odors being used and they can also be used with mechanical or sifting litter boxes so it’s quite versatile.
Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal Litter
Depending on what you’re looking for and how much you need this Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal Litter is available in quite a few different sizes and I always go with the 38 pound one but you can also find it available in 14, 19, 25.8, 28, and a pack of 32 pound options.
This litter works in an interesting way and seals the odor before it destroys it so that it doesn’t stink up the room after your cat takes a poop or pee.
The way it works is by utilizing a proprietary blend of micro granules that are activated by moisture and once they’re activated they form an odor containing seal around any poop or pee that your cat has left behind.
Once the seal around the mess has been formed there are heavy duty odor eliminators along with the baking soda from Arm & Hammer that’s an ingredient that helps to eliminate the odor so that you don’t smell anything after your cat has used the box.
After your cat has gone in the box the poop is clumped quickly and this makes it easier to scoop out and get rid of and this is a low-dust litter so that your cat will be tracking dust around the house after it goes to the washroom.
One of the interesting features that I noticed is that right on the box there’s a claim that you’re able to enjoy 7 days of odor free home so if you’re usually dealing with smells after your cat goes number one or two then this is the litter that I would recommend checking out.
World’s Best Cat Litter Quick Cat Clumping Formula
The World’s Best Cat Litter Quick Cat Clumping Formula is another litter that I would recommend checking out and it comes in a variety of different sizes from 7 pounds up to 30 pounds so you are able to choose a good size depending on how often you want to refill it and how many cats you have.
It works by taking advantage of 2 ingredients, natural wood fibers and whole kernel corn, both of which help to absorb moisture as well as give off a nice fragrance so that you don’t have to deal with a stinky and wet mess any time that your cat goes to the washroom in the box.
It’s quick clumping so that you can clean up after your cat shortly after he goes if that’s what you’re interested in doing and it gives off a pretty foresty, more natural odor unlike some of the more chemical smelling ones that you can find in stores and online.
The litter is 99% dust-free so your cat isn’t going to be walking around with dust on his paws all over the place after he uses the box and the natural materials that it’s made from really help with absorbency as well as odor masking.
Depending on what you’re doing with the leftovers, you can flush this litter as it’s septic safe so if you’re leaving the box in the bathroom you can easily get rid of anything that’s left behind without having to carry it through the whole house.
Purina Yesterday’s News Cat Litter
The Purina Yesterday’s News Cat Litter is unscented, so there’s no unusual chemical smell around the area where you leave the litter box, and it’s available in a few different sizes depending on how many cats you have and how much you need.
I really like this one because it’s made with recycled paper and the pellets that it uses are easy to clean up off the floor if my cat happens to make a mess after using the box.
The ingredients that it uses are 99.7% dust free so your cat won’t be tracking dust throughout the bathroom or the rest of the house after he goes and the paper pellets are soft, gentle, and good for cats with sensitive paws.
It’s a lot more absorbent than using clay, and a lot easier to manage in my opinion, and it’s possible to add the used litter out into the garbage with the garden trash because it’s recyclable but just don’t toss it in the recycling bin with poop in it.
Nature’s Miracle Just for Cats Easy Care Crystal Litter
The Nature’s Miracle Just for Cats Easy Care Crystal Litter offers great odor control which is suitable if you have more than just one or two cats at home that are using the box quite a bit and you find it stinky.
It comes equipped with these dehydrating crystals that are activated once they come in contact with moisture and help to keep any odors locked in.
The litter is 99% dust free and this is good if you have a problem with your cat’s tracking dust all over the house after they go to the washroom.
One of the benefits of it is that last year a cat uses it you can scoop out anything that I left behind and just mix up the little bit so that the crystals inside can continue to absorb more moisture and mask the odor.
After all the moisture has been absorbed you’ll notice that the crystals start to dry out and once this happens it’s a good idea to replace them and clean the box at the same time.
Arm & Hammer Double Duty Litter
The Arm & Hammer Double Duty Litter takes advantage of a special formula that’s able to destroy the odors caused from pee and poop so that your home or bathroom wherever you keep your litter box is left smelling clean and scent free.
It’s available in a variety of different sizes depending on how much you need and how many cats do you have.
The way it works is by utilizing baking soda crystals that have been boosted with a odor neutralizer that are activated as soon as they come into contact with moisture.
These crystals help to keep odors down and cause the moisture to clump up so that it’s easier to remove and clean up.
This is a low tracking litter and it’s 99% dust free so that after your cat goes to the washroom he’s not going to be tracking dust all over the place.
